Dear Community Partners,
As families across Hillsborough County prepare to celebrate the holiday weekend, we are reminded that creating safe and healthy environments for children is at the heart of everything we do. Constant supervision of children, especially around water, fireworks, e-bikes and scooters, and motor vehicles is critical.
Safe Kids Greater Tampa, led by our partners with St. Joseph Children’s Hospital, provides excellent safety tips on their website – Safe Kids Greater Tampa | Safe Kids Worldwide. Through Children’s Board funding, St. Joseph’s Mobile Health and Safety Education program provides valuable wellness resources and safety classes in community locations and at our seven Children’s Board Family Resource Center locations.

The Children’s Board has recently supported an initiative led by Safe and Sound Hillsborough in response to the teen takeovers that have occurred across the country and locally. Safe and Sound is partnering with local law enforcement and community organizations to offer Safe Summer Series 2026. Fueled by funding from the Children’s Board and Hillsborough County, the initiative includes youth-focused community events, a county-wide social media challenge, mini-grant opportunities that support violence and risky behavior prevention efforts led by local organizations, and more.
As we plan for next fiscal year and get to work renewing our agreements with more than 100 funded programs, the Children’s Board team is also increasing public awareness efforts about our goals and impact. In this issue, we have included our recently updated impact document, focused on educating others on the important role we play in Hillsborough County. Please help us share the word about the difference the Children’s Board and our funded programs and services are making in the lives of our children, families, and communities.
