SUMMARY:Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening and Support Certification
DESCRIPTION:Standards of Quality Certification (Virtual- 2 training days are required)\nDay 1-9AM-5PM /Day 2 -9AM-1PM\n\n\nThis is a two-day certification virtual training through the National Family Support Network. The certification process requires you to fully participate with cameras on and audio working. The first 30 minutes of Day 1 will be checking for working cameras/audio and a printed manuals that must be picked up in advance at the one of the Children’s Board Family Resource Centers. If these requirements are not met in the first 30 minutes of training then you will be asked to reschedule. It is best to test your computers and Zoom application in advance of the training. \nDay 1-9AM-5PM \nDay 2 -9AM-1PM \nHow can we work with families most effectively? \nWhat does it mean to be a quality Family Strengthening and Support Program? \nHow can managers\, direct service staff\, and families work together to develop and sustain quality programs? \nThe nationally-adopted Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support is a complementary training to the Protective Factors Training Series. The Standards are used by public departments\, foundations\, networks\, community-based organizations\, and parents used as a tool for planning\, providing\, and assessing quality practice. \nBased on the Principles of Family Support Practice and the Strengthening Families Framework and its research-based evidence-informed 5 Protective Factors\, they have created a common language across different kinds of Family Strengthening and Family Support programs such as Family Resource Centers\, home visiting programs\, and child development programs. \nThis certification training details how the Standards can enhance work with families. Whether you are setting up a new program or strengthening an existing one\, the Standards provide a blueprint for implementing best practice. \nParticipants from Programs are highly encouraged to come as teams with Executive Directors\, Managers\, Coordinators\, and Direct Service Staff\, as each has a key role to play in implementing the Standards effectively. Participants who successfully complete will receive a certificate from the National Family Support Network that is valid for two years. \nThe event is free to Children’s Board of Hillsborough County funded providers. \nFlorida Family Support Network staff will be invoiced for $75 per participant to cover the cost of materials and the certificate issued by the National Family Support. \nThe training will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. Please plan accordingly\, as latecomers will not receive certificates. \nA zoom link will be provided after the registration is completed.

SUMMARY:Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life (In-person)
DESCRIPTION:Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life in Your Work\n\n\nThe Children’s Board is excited to announce the training opportunity: Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life in Your Work. \nProtective factors are the strengths and resources that families can draw on when life gets difficult. Taking those good characteristics and building on them is a proven way to strengthen the entire family and thus decrease the likelihood of maltreatment. Each of the protective factors is essential\, but most important is what they do together to create strength and stability in families. \nParticipants will: \n• Have the opportunity to explore all five protective factors; \n• Learn about seven program strategies that help families to build those protective factors; \n• Be encouraged to consider and reflect about what it means to work with families in a strength-based way; \n• Learn about some tools that will help you be more intentional in using the framework as an everyday part of your work. \nThe Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework is an approach which helps organizations or individuals work in partnership with families to identify their needs and utilize existing assets to prevent child abuse and neglect and support the healthy development of children. \nThe Protective Factors Framework is based on five Protective Factors that extensive research has shown make families stronger\, prevent child abuse and neglect\, and enable families to care for children in ways that support their healthy development and well-being. \n• Concrete Supports in Times of Need \n• Parental Resilience \n• Social Emotional Development of Children \n• Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development \n• Social Connections \nParticipants are encouraged and not required to take the free online Protective Factors Introduction course prior to the training. Click the link to register for the online course https://bit.ly/PFonline2024 \nThe Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life (In-person) training is free to anyone living or working in Hillsborough County. This session is approved for 8 CEUs for the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work\, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. \nLocation: \nChildren’s Board of Hillsborough County \nConference Center \n1002 East Palm Avenue \nTampa\, FL 33605
