Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life (In-person)
February 25 @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
Free
The Children’s Board is excited to announce the training opportunity: Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life in Your Work.
Protective factors are the strengths and resources that families can draw on when life gets difficult. Taking those good characteristics and building on them is a proven way to strengthen the entire family and thus decrease the likelihood of maltreatment. Each of the protective factors is essential, but most important is what they do together to create strength and stability in families.
Participants will:
• Have the opportunity to explore all five protective factors;
• Learn about seven program strategies that help families to build those protective factors;
• Be encouraged to consider and reflect about what it means to work with families in a strength-based way;
• Learn about some tools that will help you be more intentional in using the framework as an everyday part of your work.
The Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework is an approach which helps organizations or individuals work in partnership with families to identify their needs and utilize existing assets to prevent child abuse and neglect and support the healthy development of children.
The Protective Factors Framework is based on five Protective Factors that extensive research has shown make families stronger, prevent child abuse and neglect, and enable families to care for children in ways that support their healthy development and well-being.
• Concrete Supports in Times of Need
• Parental Resilience
• Social Emotional Development of Children
